Celebrating LGBTQ Pride, Community, and Connection

The Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging (DEI&B) committee hosted their 6th Annual Pride Happy Hour at Val’s Lesbian Bar on July 2. Despite the record-breaking heat (101 degrees!) a dedicated group of JLP members gathered in solidarity of LGBTQ+ rights, community, and culture.

Val’s, which opened in March 2026, features romance-themed red and pink menus and vintage decor throughout its cozy space. It is the first lesbian bar to open in Philadelphia since 2021, and The Junior League of Philadelphia was delighted to support this woman-owned establishment.

While enjoying colorful cocktails such as Butch Bait and The Big Boy, conversation flowed easily—from Love Island and Summer House to upcoming committee placements, leadership roles, and plans for the League year ahead.

Events like this reflect The Junior League of Philadelphia’s ongoing commitment to fostering a welcoming, inclusive community where all women feel they belong. As we look ahead to a new League year and welcome prospective members, we remain committed to building an organization that values diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging, and where women from all backgrounds, experiences, and identities are encouraged to connect, lead, and serve together.
